If you are spending Christmas in Guam, you would probably spy Santa hanging out at the beach in a pair of shorts. While Guam migh give Santa a makeover, there is one Christmas tradition that remains unchanged – the Christmas lights. Guam goes all out to put on its best light display and we have made a list of the best light displays for you.

Peace Festival 2014 at Government House- Agana Heights:

The second annual Peace Festival at the Government House, the official residence of the Governor of Guam, in Agana Heights, has put on an amazing display of Christmas lights, and is on its way to become a regular Guam Christmas tradition. The lights will be on through January 4, 2015 and the theme for this year’s festival is Magof Nochebuena (A Happy Good Night) and will feature an array of colorful Christmas light displays throughout the historic gardens of the Government House. Besides the lights, there will also be cultural shows, fireworks, music and food. Christmas trees beautifully decorated by various organizations and a belen or Nativity scene by each of the 19 villages in Guam are also part of the festival. Come enjoy the lights between6 pm and 9 pm Sundays through Thursdays and between 6 pm and 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, The closing ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, January 4, 2014 at 6 p.m.

Saint Fidelis Friary — Agana Heights:

The Saint Fidelis Friary is transformed into an elaborate Christmas village by the Quinata family, with a stunning display of miniature figurines over an area of 2000 square feet. The display includes a toy train, carnival scene, ice skating rink, Santa’s workshop, houses set with detailed precision and intricate nativity scene, all amidst landmarks from around the world. Time: 6 to 9 p.m. through January 8 Admission is free but donations are encouraged For more information call 472-6339

Tumon:

The streets of Tumon are transformed into a wonderland with a dazzling holiday illumination put up by the Guam Visitors Bureau. A trip down Pale San Vitores road is a visual feast with colorful rope lights addingto the already brightly lit Tumon strip.

Micronesia Mall — Dededo:

The Mall’s Center Court is all set for the 6th Annual Christmas Lights and Snow Show with a 30 foot Christmas tree with more than 40,000 LED lights as its centerpiece. Enjoy a train ride around the tree, meet Santa and bring along your children to have their pictures taken with Santa. These are the times for the light show which has the lights beautifully synchronized with Christmas music. December 22-23: 11am, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm December 24: 11am, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm December 26-31: 11am, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm

Skinner Plaza — Hagatna:

This is where Guam’s Chamber of Commerce and its partners throw the19th annual Christmas Festival in the heart of the island’s capital, Hagatna. Skinner Plaza is brightly lit in keeping with the holiday spirit. This year’s theme is “The Gift of Christmas,” and the gorgeous display is definitely a gift to locals, tourists, and military members throughout the island.
