Christmas is on everyone’s mind with barely three weeks to go before the holiday and like everywhere else, the island nation of Guam is also gearing up to celebrate the Season of Joy and peace! So if Guam’s on your mind this holiday season, we have a list of what to do in Guam during the season. So here you go:

Our Top Picks of the Season:

Peace Festival at the Government House:

The lights are on at the Government House n Agana heights and after the official inauguration on December 2nd at 6 pm, the lights will stay on till January 2015.

Christmas Lantern Contest:

This event is to be held on December 14 and is organized by the Filipino Artists of Guam. Artists and craft enthusiasts will get a chance to display their skills in making lanterns and win prizes at the 2014 Christmas Parole contest at the Agana Shopping Center.

Guam Children’s Ballet:

The Guam Children’s Ballet will perform ‘A Visit from St.Nicholas’ also called, ‘’Twas the Night Before Christmas,’ at noon on December 20 at the University of Guam Fine Arts Theater. Tickets cost $15 for adults. Children under 16 have free admission. For more information, visit www.ladanseguam.com or call 727-3522/483-9967.

Sugar Plum Gifts for the Needy:

Christmas is also the time for kindness and charity and the Sugar Plum Tree’s Big Wrap Event has become beloved tradition during Christmas in Guam for the last thirty years. Initiated by Karen kline and later supported by Kathy Kernaghan, this is a charity that donates teddy bears to the police department to give away to children affected by tragedy and violence. So if you are considering giving a gift for someone needy, you would want to check out The Big Wrap or even assist with the wrapping next week.

Mongmong-Toto-Maite:

This is where you get to meet Santa. Mayor Villagomez invites all tri-village children to the event and tell him what they want and perhaps check out whether they made it to his ‘Nice’ or ‘Naughty’ list, before he sets off on his journey around the world. Santa will be at Cindo Park in Mongmong at 10 a.m. Dec. 6. Children ages 0 to 10 are encouraged to come greet St. Nick.

We at Days Inn, the most popular Guam Hotel, invite you to come spend the season with us and enjoy a special island Christmas in Guam.
Season’s Greetings!
