After a successful Guam International Marathon that saw a record number of runners this year, now it’s time for another kind of race. Raise some dust at the Smoking’ Wheels Racing Weekend scheduled to be held at the Guam International Raceway on April 17, 18 and 19.

The 76/Circle K Smoking Wheels Racing event is entering its 33rd year and has become something of a much-anticipated tradition in Guam. Event activities include roaring engines, and motor sports competitions for road buggies, trucks and ATVs, mini bikes. The participants will take part in motorcross, 4X4 crawling, auto-x, drifting, off road endurance, and the second annual Hafadaze Auto Fiesta Car Show and Drag Racing Finals.

The racing event that had started off small is today a major event in the island’s calendar, held over three days and drawing thousands of spectators from around the world and even international competitors. There are 40 international racers expected to participate in the event, along with locals, bringing up the tally of racers top 200. The Motorcross event to be held on April 18, Saturday is part of the Japan National Championships and points won here will be counted towards the series. Therefore there will be a strong participation from Japan and an equally strong contingent of supporters to cheer them on.

Saturday’s event features the Monster Energy Guam Motorcross Championships where motorbikes are raced, bar to bar on a tough, difficult to navigate, off road course. And on Sunday is the most popular Off Road Endurance race with participation from vehicles of all sizes including small buggies and monster trucks on a closed off road course.

So whatever kind of racing gets you worked up, you can look forward to a high-energy weekend of non-stop action, great food and high speed to get the adrenalin pumping.

And whether you are a participant, supporter or simply a spectator, while in Guam, the best place to stay and catch all the Smoking Wheels action is without a doubt Days Inn, the most popular Guam hotel. Trip Advisor has also certified us the #1 Hotel in Tamuning. We look forward to hosting all race enthusiasts.
