Guam has been known to be a center for art exhibitions, of various forms. Come this September, from the 16th to 23rd, Guam Art eXhibit (GAX) brings to Guam, in collaboration with Pow! Wow! International, Pow! Wow! Guam. This is being held in conjunction with the Guam Art eXhibits 10th annual show, venue being the The Plaza, Tumon.
Pow! Wow! Guam will be the newest in a series of mural festivals created by Pow! Wow! International. Pow! Wow! is a global network of artists and organizers and their mural festivals are built to highlight the host city and it’s art scene. A few earlier host cities include Hawaii, Taiwan, Tokyo as well as Hong Kong. This festival will feature a series of large scale public art murals throughout Guam in conjunction with the Lieutenant Governor’s Islandwide Beautification Task Force featuring the talent of local artist alongside world-renowned visiting artists.
On the opening night, the Guam Art eXhibit will host it’s 10th gallery showing featuring the best of Guam’s local contemporary artists. Apart from this, the event will provide a series of community events including workshops, educational demonstrations, and public talks by local and visiting artists.
