Guam Tourism on Rise and More Airlines Fly to Guam

All the efforts put in by the Government  to boost Guam tourism are definitely paying off, as seen by the steady rise in the number of tourists visiting Guam this year. Tourism is the number one industry in this tiny island, which is a territory of the United States, and the government, under Governor Eddie Baza Calvo is leaving no stone unturned to keep the visitors coming in.

This includes more fun activities, providing world-class resorts and events of international stature, shopping festivals, promoting Guam’s own Chomorro culture, showcasing everything that makes Guam unique, and importantly, increasing security measures to make visitors feel safe and secure while on holiday. Guam is also being promoted as a much-favored wedding destination. The result is there for everyone to see. According to the Guam Visitors Bureau, the number of visitors to land in Guam in March 2015 was 132,334 – the second best numbers ever recorded for the month of March.

Determined to cash in on the influx of tourists, airlines from neighboring countries are increasing the number of flights to the island. Governor Eddie Calvo who just returned from a successful trade mission trip to Asia has good news to share about the additional flights that will be flying into Guam from China and Korea and he is pretty excited about the relationships created and the information shared on Guam as a preferred destination for both investors and tourists.

China Southern Airlines is one of the companies operating new flights to Guam and they plan to introduce direct flights from Shenyang City.

In addition, US Consul General Scott Weinhold has also committed to expediting the visa process so that travellers from China can travel more easily to Guam.
